Thunderbird: reset master-password
if you're in windows:
1) find the path to your thunderbird.exe file by right clicking on your shortcut and clicking on properties. it should look something like "C:Program Files...thunderbird.exe"
2) if the quotes aren't there, you'll want to add them for this next part. you'll want to select run from the windows menu and type/paste in your path with the quotes surrounding it.
3) after that, you add the following at the end (within the quotes)
-chrome chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul
which should give you something like "C:path to thunderbirdthunderbird.ext -chrome chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul"
4) run that and you should reset the master password.
